Resident of The Landing Zone since March 3, 2012
Lucky was brought to us with Homey, a native African
Timneh Grey (both open banded) in March of 2012. The two African Grey's were previously breeding birds owned by a woman from Long Beach. Lucky is not a very social bird and incessantly growls at anyone around him. He has some health problems that include an overgrown scissored beak and a twisted foot. It also appears that he has a severe nasal infection, as you can see through his nostrils from one side to the other.
After Lucky had settled in here at TLZPS for a couple months, we took him to
an avian vet who agreed to help trim his misshaped beak the best he could. The procedure turned out a great success and Lucky awoke with a working beak and mandible. He growled and growled at the vet till he was put in the hallway so he could talk to us. However, due to the severe condition of Lucky's beak, it will require a visit to the vet to be reshapen every six months. He has come a long way since he first became inducted into our flock, but we hope to see more improvements in his health as time progresses.
