Parrots In Wills:
Life Planning for Your Parrot

Life planning can be a daunting task; thinking and planning for one's death is not a fun or easy thing to do, but with this guide we will help you through the burden and make plans for your feathered family in the unfortunate event of your passing, assuring your dear companion a loving, enriching environment and life thereafter.

Some parrots species live very long lives and occasionally they do outlive their owners, especially a young pet with an elderly companion. To ensure that your parrot will be cared for and placed under permanent care after you have passed, we suggest owners leave a bequest in the names of their feathered friend[s]. You can leave a specific bequest, residuary bequest, or contingent bequest toThe Landing Zone Parrot Sanctuary for the care of your parrot for the rest of his life.

Below we will explain what each of these bequests mean, what they cover and how they will help your parrot live a long, healthy and happy life at The Landing Zone Parrot Sanctuary, Inc. (TLZPS).

Specific Bequests

A specific bequest is when you name TLZPS as a direct beneficiary of an estate or monetary sum. You can leave percentages of estate and any amount of money or property directed towards only your bird's care or all the birds' care at TLZPS.

“I give devise and bequeath to The Landing Zone Parrot Sanctuary, Inc., located at 1820 N. Via Miraleste, Palm Springs, CA 92262 the sum of $________ (or _____ % of my estate or the property described herein) to be used in support of its mission to provide space that will facilitate the enrichment and knowledge of the parrot species.

Residuary Bequests

A residuary bequest is when you designate that TLZPS will receive all or a portion of you estate after all specific bequests.

“All the rest, residue and remainder of my property, both real and personal, and wheresoever situated, I give, devise and bequeath to The Landing Zone Parrot Sanctuary, Inc., located at 1820 N. Via Miraleste, Palm Springs, CA 92262 to be used in support of its mission to provide space that will facilitate the enrichment and knowledge of the parrot species.

Contingent Bequests

A contingent bequest is when you name TLZPS as the contingent beneficiary to receive all assets if your benefeciaries do not survive you. This is a convienient and easy way to benefit your parrot after you may pass. Your assets will then pass to The Landing Zone Parrot Sanctuary, Inc. rather than to unintended beneficiaries.

“If the above named beneficiaries predecease me, I hereby give, devise and bequeath my entire estate to The Landing Zone Parrot Sanctuary, Inc., located at 1820 N. Via Miraleste, Palm Springs, CA 92262 to be used in support of its mission to provide space that will facilitate the enrichment and knowledge of the parrot species.
